We’ve had our little babyOregonian for the span of time it took Jules Verne’s character Phileas Fogg to circumnavigate the world. It’s Lucie’s 80-day birthday!
Eight Week old Lucie at her first Oregon Ducks Game
We haven’t made a second trip around the globe, but we’ve now been around the block a time or two these past few months when it comes to diapers, baby baths, and try-it-and-see bedtime routines.
Speaking of, we’re not racing time for the sake of a wager, but we’ve certainly spent weeks up around the clock, desperate to get Lucie to shut her eyes and go to bed so we could have just a little time to ourselves. (Lesson learned: Sleep? Don’t bet on it.)
We’re not carrying carpet-bags or trundling along in steamer ships or railroad cars, but we’ve swapped our trusty backpacks for a classy diaper bag and we’re making our way just fine with a little baby carseat.
We haven’t crossed borders lately (well, not counting the Washington/Oregon state line to make it to the newborn photographer’s studio for those sweet pics of our little peach), but we’ve been immersed in new cultures and avoiding sparring tribes (so far so good staying out of the mommy wars).
No Passepartout following us around offering assistance, but between the family and friends who’ve brought meals, offered company, shared hand-me-downs, and joined right in on this new adventure, we feel pretty blessed with trusty, loyal help and all the provisions we need.
So just what do we have to show for our 80 days of this new adventure?
Um, probably 8.0 GB of iPhone photos.
Here are just a few… (cough, cough).
Leave it to the little people of the world to reminds us that time never stands still and we are all on a journey, changing day by day…
xx Bethany

Lucy is adorable! Thanks for sharing the photos. Wish youwere closer, I’d bring u something as well. We enjoy our grandchildren alot! Precious and brings back memories of when our children were young, so last century!! Email me your address. Hugs and stay warm.
Hard to believe how many years have passed since those days! You’re sweet to think of us — I’ll send a little note to your email address. Enjoy your family this Christmastime! xx B
Man, she is seriously adorable. l love the one of her dressed all in white and screaming her head off!
Oh my goodness, I remember taking that picture. She hated, hated, hated being set down. It’s hard to wrap my head around how tiny she was then…and how much bigger she seems now, hardly a month later! This is seriously causing my head to spin.
Thanks for stopping by the blog – always fun to hear from you. Enjoy the European Christmas season! xx
Beautiful! Even that one of her screaming her lungs out.
Right?! That fuzzy head of hair sticking straight up, too. And those little clenched fists. Oh, she just kills me with those looks.
Cutie pie. I’m glad you guys are finding some amount of routine. Rough with a newborn. Sleep will come eventually (so I hear)…but best not to count on it! Best of luck.
It’s a whole different level of culture shock, that’s for sure. Jetlag x 1000 or something like that. Though, I have to say, these past few weeks have started to balance out a bit. Definitely more sleep than the first month… ;)
Absolutely adorable!
Thanks, Maria! It was fun to get to introduce her to Shawn in person, too :)
