During our stay at Hugh and Ros’ lovely Tidesong Bed and Breakfast in Whangarei, New Zealand, Ted headed out in a kayak on the estuary during the 2.9 spring “super-tide” while I stayed in and joined Ros and her ladies’ group for morning tea, coffee, carrot cake, scripture, and real-life conversation. Later, we traversed the boardwalk through the mangroves, watched the ducks in the garden, and drove off to the Whangarei Heads before our trip took us farther north to Paihia and Kerikeri.
Our Favorite Memory: Watching the pet duck rule the roost!
Wifi: Available.
Breakfast: Of course, sensible breakfast foods were available, but Ros’ homemade carrot cake was the bee’s knees.
Our Favorite Amenities: A kayak to explore the mangroves.
Setting: Down a charming road, tucked away in the bush with water access, blue skies, and good company.
