Musings, Oregon, Tidbits About Us

Seven Years and Six(ish) Continents Later

July 1, 2013

We met when we were seven and nine and married at 22 and 24. Such babies, I know.

When I have a thing for something, I have a thing. Ted. Travel. Oregon. The Pacific Northwest… Seven years ago, on July 1st (Canada Day, hey-oh!), we stitched our life-passports together, celebrated with family and friends, and set out to make our way, together, in the world.

This morning, what started as an effort to dig up wedding pictures for a Facebook profile picture turned into a nostalgic walk down memory lane…

Happy Anniversary, sweet Ted!

Our ceremony in the circle: blazing hot, beautiful afternoon, perfectly manicured Blue Sky Farm grass, Cascade Trees Christmas Trees, and Oregon Heritage Oaks.

Let’s Runaway Together…

Our serving aprons: spotless as we dished out salmon and prime rib for our friends and family… (Now, after seven years in our chaotic kitchen, they’re a bit worse for wear…but I love them so much.)

Delicious, endless piles of food, and a dessert buffet assembled by so many sweet friends… (Note: Lovely Wedding Photos courtesy of family, friends, and Linden Photography)

The feet that walked together through adventures in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and New Zealand…

Together, forever, come hell or high water.

Thank you friends and family and readers for loving and celebrating with us along the way.

Thank you Oregon for being such a fine place to grow roots.

Thank you world for showing us your wonders.

Thanks, Ted, for making the years so rich.

What a beautiful affirmation of your love and commitment to each other. There are no words to adequately describe the deep blessing of sharing your life with the person who is the other half of your soul, yet you captured the essence of that blessing here. When your little Peach comes, your world will be richer and even more astounding.

Happy Anniversary Ted and Bethany. I wish for you many more years of love and friendship and adventures.

Oh you two. You fuel my faith in lasting love, you know that? We were hanging out in my home country nearly a year ago and it’s been a year of go-go-go and endless transition. It feels wonderful to be sitting in one place (well, for a little bit, anyway…) and catch up with your stories. May you celebrate many, many more years of limitless love.

[…] When Ted and I married, we honeymooned in Cascadia. (I like that title. It sounds even more romantic than “Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia,” doesn’t it?) We knew no one at our destination, but we returned home having made a few friends on Vancouver Island. […]
