Goodbye Old Theme!

March 2, 2015

I started blogging in December of 2003 on a custom-built platform my friend made for me.

I was headed to live in New Zealand at the time, and having a little online home to populate with stories and links and photos was the perfect Christmas gift. It lived on until sometime in 2006 (or was it 2007?) and then died a slow death, eaten alive by spam-bot comments (and a horrible mix of typefaces).

In following years, I toyed with Blogger and ran another few sites with friends…

And then, in 2010, I finally bootstrapped my way through my very first WordPress install, wrapping my head around around WordPress.com and WordPress.org, child themes and Typekit, custom CSS and widgets and plugins.

As someone who loves using Adobe InDesign and simply clicking and dragging and typing to whip up whatever’s in my mind’s eye, it’s been an infuriating ride on the webdesign wagon.

I’ve wished for years now to have a tidier, updated look. (See the original at the top of this post for the way this site’s been since 2011: rocking the WordPress twenty-eleven theme.)

Thanks to Christine Gilbert’s Blog Brilliantly Program, I finally faced my webdesign aggravations and put a fresh new coat of paint on my little internet home.

A dozen years of blogging, and here we are.
